Restaurant Reviews
Agra Balti House (Brighton, England)
1 review, average rating: 63%
The restaurant was visited on Friday, 10th May 2002 in the evening.
The food ordered was: Onion bhajies, Agra kebab, chicken jalfry, meat Ceylon with peas panir, sag aloo and pilau rice.
Quality of food
To be honest the food was hardly spectacular. The meat ceylon was rather lacking in coconut and was not as hot I was would like. Tthe chicken jalfry hot plenty of heat and fresh chillies but seemed to be lacking something flavourwise. I did enjoy the Agra kebab, in a extra spicy sheek kebab kind of way.
Quality of service
Service was fine; fast and friendly.
Variety on menu
The same selection of balti dishes and restaurant curries.
Decor & ambience
The surroundings were more a like a smart restaurant than your classic flock wallpaper curry house. Personally I prefer the latter.
Location
Located near the sea front in the centre of town.
Cost
Same as most places.
In summary
I really struggle to find good Indian restaurants in Brighton (although there some fantastic take-aways). Agra is pretty typical of them really. A pleasant enough evening but totally unmemorable food.
